Bedminster,
New Jersey
 |
|
Bedminster
is a study in contrasts. Once a sparsely populated rural township
of rolling horse farms and grand old estate homes spread out over
more than 26 square miles, it has grown to a population of 8400
people. The past 20 years have seen the building of more than 3000
condos, townhomes and single family homes grouped in the eastern
corner of the township, near the intersection of Interstates 287
and 78. |

| Settled
in 1749 by King George II of England, Bedminster was primarily home
to Dutch, German, Scottish and Irish immigrants. The train line
was extended to Bedminster in 1890 when it started to change from
a rural farming community to a retreat for wealthy families from
New York.
Today, Bedminster's pastures, rolling hills, farmlands and still
large tracts of undeveloped land are home to the famous Essex Fox
Hunt and Hamilton Farms. |
